This artwork is the first of 2 of a new series of paintings I just completed.
Through lived experiences, culture itself preserves moments and memories, and with that, it proposes its own form of simultaneity, in which all of its images and components can coexist into the future. The recurring use of red splashes of paint draws attention to the simplicity and primitive nature of the artwork, just as traditions and culture come to reside within us in modern society through many forms — wounds, scars and markings — all coming up to the surface of the self and expressing the beauty of that which is archaic.

Based in: Singapore
As a contemporary artist based in Singapore, Rashid renders his own visual and conceptual interpretations gleaned from observations of everyday life and modern culture.
Taking inspiration from Michelangelo, Carravagio, Pablo Picasso and Jeff Koons, Rashid absorbs everything that surrounds him. The nature of his work varies from time to time and is mostly rendered on canvas, paper and fabric.
Rashid works from his studio at home, often at odd hours while trying to capture the rush of blood to his head. To him, painting is like a dream, something that can be imagined in front of you. He believes that every house should have an art piece, because every house contains a dream.
