Artist Statement
These collage works are made from images of historic artworks that I mine from books, auction catalogs, and magazines. I am drawn to their various shapes, colors and textures, which I then deconstruct to create wholly new forms and narratives. I gather them into compositions that play with their complimentary and contrasting attributes and I make them into works that are bright, active, lyrical and visually confounding. I'm interested in the tension between figuration and abstraction and how 2D forms can occupy, define and create space.
