Artist Statement

The shapes in The Call Series are inspired by the weathered karst limestone formations and caves in the landscape surrounding my studio. Multiple forces create changes to the stones over time leaving forms that can seem mysterious, precarious, fragile, impossible. They are built from high-fired, layered clays with crackled porcelain on the surface. The given measurements describe the sections placed together in one of the smallest formations.
