Artist Statement
"Fan" is the latest in a new series of I was inspired to start after being in quarantine (due to Covid-19) for a couple of months and running out of some of the colors of ink I'd been using. I used the reds and oranges I had left, drawing the circle and cell-like shapes I have been drawing and painting for many years in a looser style, allowing forms to move into and meld with others. I am also letting go of controlling the imagery - where it goes and what it does. Collaged elements remain essential parts of the piece, intensifying and invigorating the space.
