Artist Statement
An idea of space and perception.
Remi Delaplace has been reflecting on the perception of space for several years. The Dance and Painting relationships have a common origin in the theatre. The representation, the scene, the perspective, the frame...
To the perspective responds the frontal plane, to the line: the color, and beyond that to the representation responds what is presented. In this painting, Rémi Delaplace started from the idea in contact improvisation dance, of touching and being touched: we are as much touched by the ground as we touch the ground.
“My practice of painting is intimately linked to the practice of dance improvisation.
My work is crossed by themes: gravitation, trajectory, levitation, fall... which come directly from "contact dance". It is about new ways of inhabiting the world, space. The issues of the event, of orientation, of the situation of bodies and objects are played out”.
