Watching the sun rise and the light slowly creep into the day casting its shadows across the city has been a big influence on Richards work over the years. He uses a variety of mediums to create these pieces, working in mainly oil paints, acrylics and spray paints. Layering different textures as found in our cities
The work in this series blends both the dynamism and energy of the futurists with the geometry and depth of the suprematists and keeping the roots in graffiti art.

Richard is an abstract painter who originates from York, North Yorkshire and is now a resident of Bristol in the South West of England. Richard’s love of art began in 1987, when he was introduced to graffiti art. This inspired him to pick up the can, and the rest is history. Over the years Richard’s work has evolved from his early graffiti writings to the non-objective abstract aesthetic we see today. Heavily influenced by the dynamism of the Italian Futurists such as Umberto Boccioni and the geometry of Kazimir Malevich and the Suprematist movement, Richards keeps roots in graffiti art.
