Being an immigrant, one always feels they lived two different lives: everything, we see, feel, eat, and hear, is divided into “before” and “after”. Everything becomes a comparison. No matter how far away you go, how many places you visit, the place that you were born and raised in always stays with you, somewhere deep down. Unchangeable past, unburnable bridge, that we never get to choose… I still carry you with me.
