Artist Statement
Abstracted impressionistic landscape painting.
Another in my long term series, which is evolving constantly. It's a very large painting inspired by Claude Monet. This painting is using blues and greens as a base, and plays with mark making, layers and complexity.
I have tried to inject as much colour, warmth and vibrancy as I can onto this canvas, which has many many layers of paint to give depth and excitement to the painting. It is also finished using spray paints, which add more spontaneity and interest to the painting.
This 120x120 painting is unframed. it has white painted edges and is strung with picture cord ready to hang.

I live and work in the Weald of Kent, South East England. I work with landscapes, from which I draw my inspiration. the play of light and shadows, and the in-the-moment experience of absorbing the world around me inform my work. I am also drawn by my memories of a childhood spent outside. The visual impact and pleasure of that still resonates. I love colour and texture and in my work am always attempting to use these elements to create a harmonious balance. I enjoy working in an experimental way with different materials, I frequently throw paint at my canvas, and work with the canvas on the floor, dripping paint onto it.
