Artist Statement
When life feels like a never-ending game of Tetris, sometimes the only solution is to sew the pieces together and create something beautiful. Using a new layering and collaging process, I took four separate paintings and sewed them into a massive canvas. I then layered on cut-out plant forms and collaged with thread and gel medium. The result is a wild, colorful quilt of emotions that's uniquely eclectic, modern, and happy.
The plus symbols in my piece symbolize positivity, even in the midst of chaos. The macaroni shapes represent the simple pleasures in life and the reminder that the present is the gift. The made-up words represent the endless potential for self-expression. The sea plant forms represent the balance and peace found in nature, and the wheels symbolize the continuous movement of life. Whether we're moving forward or not, it reminds us to keep up or we might miss it. Together, these elements come together to form a piece that is both visually stunning and emotionally impactful, a reminder to find beauty in the chaos of life.
Maybe this is the missing piece to complete your collection?
