About the art
Artist statement
Made as part of a series of pieces meditating on cyclic time. The pigments in the paint embody cyclic time, one a Jurassic Murdock picked up off the beach just before it was washed out to sea, Murdock a material that was ancient even in the Jurassic era as it was built up by erosion, coupled with repurposed industrial graphite that my Uncle bought when the steel works at Middlesborough closed down in the 1970s. He kept it over the years giving it to me in 2020 just before he died. These materials contain a cyclic process, one natural and one human, and I used them to create images that contain space and the possibility for contemplating on the cyclic nature of time.
