A part of Dunia Mini II (11/13)
When I was a child I often play in those indoor playgrounds, I recall a hyperbolic glee whenever I set my eyes on such a landmark. Tube slides, ball pits, and all the dizzying array of shapes and colours captivated my young mind; it was like rainbow coalition of fun.
Fast forward now, as a grown woman with passion and responsibility, the desire to live in a fun-looking world escalates. One of a kind utopia that looks like a floating playground. a whimsical world of sorts that exists only in dreams and imagination. Colourful, bouncy, addictive, playful, peculiar, captivating; ones crazily filled with joyful adrenaline rush, but you know it's safe, so you don't have to worry about a thing. I can't help it. Those are the things I have always constantly imagined. One day i thought to myself, isn't it sad to just keep it all in my head? I want to share it with you. I want to share with you something that makes my eyes sparkle with excitement and my weird-self all happy and giggly. Share with you an honest, raw, piece of me.
My paintings do not take life too seriously. A nonsense, but nonetheless meaningful. The painting becomes a playground fantasy place where the virtual and the real, the subconscious and the conscious, come together; call it my fun escape to the other world.
