Creating a sanctuary within your home means you have a place to retreat to and restore yourself.
Awakening to your truest self requires focus and inner strength.
Seeking the sanctuary of nature can guide you.
The gentle breeze, the warm sun, the swaying grasses moving rhythmically around you.
Soothing and kind, nature accepts you for who you really are.
Pairs beautifully with Lightness of Being, from the series Subtle Nature
Based in: Stokenchurch
Saskia Saunders creates handwoven sculptures for those who seek a natural sanctuary in their lives. Her work explores the tranquillity, wellbeing and freedom felt when spending time in woodlands and forests.
Using plant-based materials such as paper, hemp and linen, she utilises the structural qualities of the yarns to craft minimal, textural pieces.
By bringing the ancient craft of weaving into contemporary form, she is addressing our way of life in the Anthropocene. Saskia’s work shares a vision of striving for a positive future for ourselves and our world, by living more sustainably, in harmony with nature.
Saskia exhibits her work worldwide with galleries such as Amelie in Paris, Contemporary Crafts Centre in Hong Kong and Ruup & Form in London. She studied weaving at the University of Brighton and lives and works in Buckinghamshire, England.
