For this project I combine the fine details of high-resolution imagery (60-80 Megapixels) from the real natural world, with the clear abstract forms of neo-plastic elements in the shape of rectangles, either in colour or in b&w.
Through these contrasts, and the balanced flow of energy within the harmonious composition of these elements, a union manifests itself towards spiritual freedom outside the realm of time and space. And it all starts with individual forms and contrasts…
“Plastic art shows that real freedom is not mutual equality but mutual equivalence. In art, forms and colours have different dimensions and positions, but are equal in value. In the same way, through greater mutual equivalence of individual elements, our life can be better than it is now. By its freedom, art always creates a certain mutual equivalence of its composing forms, and shows the need for this freedom in human life.” (Piet Mondrian, 1942)

Based in: Wellington
I'm an artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. During my university time I left my home country Germany to live and work abroad in various fields of plant science. For more than a decade I have lived in New Zealand now.
I have been into photography since I was a child. I create artistic, abstract, modern photographic wall art and I love the concept of simplicity and to turn everyday objects into photographic art. Most fascinating about photography I find its ability to mimic other art styles. Sometimes I create Mixed Media artwork with a photographic base. Photography gives me pleasure and I am often able to get into the 'flow' where I forget everything around me while focusing on taking photos. I like to think outside the box and to experiment. Having fun is a crucial component while making creative art for me. I believe this energy can be felt in good artwork. For post-processing I do not use Photoshop.
Photos of mine were published in European gardening journals and in plant books. Furthermore, I have publications in local newspapers, national photography journals, and international art magazines under my name. In 2020 I was selected as 'Artist of the Day' by SaatchiArt. Some of my artwork is represented by galleries in various countries, e.g. in Italy.
My career highlight so far was being awarded the Curator Award at the Winter Exhibition 2021 at the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts.
