Artist Statement
I've always been fascinated by the work of Francis Bacon and inexplicably attracted by his "Study after Velázquez's Portrait of Pope Innocent X", which is definitely one of his most powerful and dramatic paintings.
With my camera I've tried to experiment and see if somehow I could give back the sense of tension and drama that come out from all his painting and especially the Pope's portrait.
This shot is the second of a mini-series of 3: it's a double exposure of a street in Central area (Hong Kong), with one of the shots being an ICM (Intentional Camera Movement), where I zoomed out while shooting with a long exposure, trying to reproduce the gesture of Bacon's brush strokes.
Limited edition of 25 printed on Pro Luster paper, 42x60 cm (comes with a white border for easy framing), with signed certificate of authenticity.
Available in larger sizes and other supports: if interested, please contact The Artling.
