Artist Statement
My works are abstract sculptural shapes that can be observed from any angle. The lines and movement leads the eye around the shape and into it. My work is creating out of an internal drive, as if emerging out of itself.
What intrigues me is plunging in, create spontaneously and intuitively, opening the layers, in search for what lies behind the overt, what is hidden within…
The concept of my works exists in the integration between two poles: aspiration for meticulous and restrained esthetics on the one hand, and unrestricted spontaneous and intuitive search on the other
The forms are made from wheel thrown or slab-constructed and altered porcelain, Fired to con 6. The Porcelain remains bare. The works are filed with sanding paper of various grades, before and after being fired.
The stand of this work made from wood and metal, painted.
The sculpture will be set with a wooden box and a metal round poll as a stand, both painted. The stand will be 35x35x30 cm and the poll is coming out to the height of about 18 cm. The sculpture is sitting on the top of the poll (see a picture presented the method in an exhibition). Total sizes of the sculpture on the stand is about 48x40x90
