Title: BLUE WAVE
Series: Swinging Lines
"The works on “SWINGING LINES” developed from my series “MUROS.” It is the visual realization of the spaces in-between the individual stones that go through the traditional Spanish stone walls like dancing lines and form a world of their own. They are the movement in a static whole." - Sibylle Werkmeister
ABOUT
Sibylle Werkmeister is an experienced painter and sculptor, born in 1952 in Weinheim, Germany. Her work has been exhibited in numerous museums, private and public collections in countries such as the US, Spain, Saudi Arabia, and Germany.
Driven to become an artist by the urge to let her spirit run free and express her vision of the world around her, she decided to study Fine Art in Santiago, Chile and became a master student of the famous Prof. Raul Bustamante. She worked as an independent artist in Barcelona, Spain, and later founded and ran the renowned art school "Freie Kunstakademie" in Überlingen, Germany. These days Werkmeister devotes herself entirely to her own art and lives and works in Cervera del Maestre, Spain.
Working spontaneously, her large-scale paintings, intimate portraits, early and current works are always subject to the play with line, shape, and color, never following a consistent and systematic stylistic pattern. Space becomes a suspect but is only an illusion. People, architecture, lines, and colors are reduced to the essential and find themselves in a painterly movement, which in its essence becomes a new abstract reality. Ultimately, Werkmeister`s aesthetic, abstract compositions invite the viewer to pause and go within.

INSPIRATION BY SOUTH AMERICA
The German artist Sibylle Werkmeister was born in 1952 in Baden Württemberg and later lived in South America. The seven years in South America during the Pinochet-Military-Regime, where many artists were persecuted, shaped her. The continent of Pablo Neruda and Diego Rivera had a great emotional influence on all her artistic work. Neruda's poems, Rivera's large wall paintings, and the vibrant and rich South American culture provided Werkmeister with creative inspiration for the use of color.
