Artist Statement
Description:
white and coloured porcelain elements mounted on nylon thread, fixed to a white wood bar. To be hanged to the ceiling or to a wall.
Artist Statement:
The inspiration for this work, not by coincidence entitled as a prime number, comes from the author’s search for a new inner dimension, which takes life through the methodical repetition of precise gestures.
These gestures replicate multifaceted elements apparently similar as it were mantra, giving life to a work able to convey a deep sense of lightness and immateriality regardless of its geometrically pronounced spatial features.
23 is also the weight in grams of the porcelain used for each single element, representing a juxtaposition between the fragility of each entity and the monumentality of the whole work.
The aim of the author is to represent a community and the relationship between its components. Though all the elements look similar to each other, however, they are also unique. The spaces left blank represent the distances between people, the balance between the humanity as a whole and the individual, the relationships within societies and communities.
