I was born in 1989 in Zagreb, Croatia. At the age of 11 I moved to Frankfurt with my parents and 4 years later to Düsseldorf. At 19 I went back to Croatia and spent one of the most formative years with my grandparents. Then I finally moved to Düsseldorf and studied Textile and Clothing Management in Mönchengladbach. I worked in the textile retail and furnishing industry for a few years, but the urge to paint never stopped. Sometime in 2019 someone said “Why aren't you selling your paintings?” and so things took their course. After my stored paintings were sold, I continued painting and began to deal with the online art market.
Art has been with me all my life. In childhood, art served me as a means of escape from reality and as an outlet during my studies. Today I use art for self-reflection and communication with myself, but also with the viewer. Current social issues and questions flow into my work. My works of art do not offer any answers, it is up to the viewer to find them - I just ask the questions. The interplay of color, shape and texture is important to me, I rarely leave anything to chance. I like to work with an idea - prepared, mindful and free of other thoughts. The fact that the observer later recognizes my thoughts is not in the foreground for me, he should make his own thoughts while looking at it and recognize something for himself. Some of my works therefore ask the viewer to change position or perspective in order to recognize colors or shapes. It is up to you how much or how little you interpret it, for some it is enough if a work of art is simply "beautiful" and that's ok.
The line serves as the basic form of my works. Lines can do a lot or little, they create shapes and objects, set limits or guide the way, they are soft and organic or sharp and angular. The lines stand out or disappear through fine textures or monochrome surfaces.
My work is inspired by artists like Imi Knöbel, Yves Klein and Hans Arp, fashion designers like Issey Miyake, architects like Rudolph Schindler, Tadao Ando and Zaha Hadid and many other furniture designers and creatives, as well as current social and cultural issues, nature and my environment .
