The series of “SimSky” is a collection that express a concept of boundary; especially as it relates to the experience of living in a city. The inspiration comes from the aerial view of the sky in the city. Sim has transformed view into symbols and signs and put these together through the traditional handmade wooden frame in order to show the variety of human life.
By shaping the outlines and calculating the angels of the frames, and turning these into paintings on canvas, painting the views on them, Sim addresses issues of modern, city life society and represents how the society changes nature. He uses photographs and videos to record the whole making process. These records show how Sim is using a mathematic methods to create the angles which are accurate and complex, chopping the sky into a series of “weird pieces”
