Artist Statement

IconCaretDown

It's an abstract painting that was made in very different stages, by layering paint in both bold and delicate ways, from thin watercolour like to thick gestures. It's full of detail, and see through glimpses of its process. The colours are light and bright, which contrasts with the black impulsive line, covered by the final orange and blue touches (from where the title comes from). This use of colour suggests depth to the eye's perception, like the blue and orange are hovering on a different plane over the background of light colours.

Artist Profile

Hometown: Montalcino

Based in: Montisi (SI)

I was born in Mexico City. That’s where I started my studies in architecture. Which strongly influenced my later work in art. I went on Erasmus to Paris for a year, where I did my first fine art drawing : a 170cm tall pencil drawing inspired my Caravaggio, which to my surprise came out really well.. So coming back to Mexico, I set up my first studio and started experimenting with oil paint and sculpture creating enough material to apply to Central Saint Martin’s in London. I got accepted, and studied there for 4 years, graduating with first class honours form my BA in Fine Arts. I did a brief internship for artist Antony Gormely right after graduation, and then had to leave the country because of my visa. That’s when I moved to Italy, and fell in love with nature. I’ve been living in Tuscany since, working as an independent artist. I am also currently studying jazz drums.
