Artist statement
From the Artist: "All human beings are affected by the moon - it is associated with feminine energy and mystery. It is a natural timekeeper that is constantly moving through a cycle and strongly affects our energy, emotions and feelings. The New Moon is the time to set an intention for the month ahead. It’s a time to step away from our busy way of living, the pushing, striving and achieving of modern life, and relax and focus inwards, connecting with ourselves and our dreams and desires. The curved lines represent movement and change, similar to the moon's cycles and phases of our lives.
This artwork consists of 4 separate panels creating a larger piece that represents a full circle or the moon. The 2d lines are transformed into a 3d sculptural element and are highlighted in the soft monochrome colour. The play of light and shadow is emphasised by the artwork's response to the ever-changing light in its environment that creates different effects during the time of the day."

Bring balance, harmony, and a sense of calmness to your home with this artwork, available in a Limited edition of 10.
The clean, precise lines of these wall relief sculptures speak to the artist's background as an architect. Sureen calls her artistic work her ‘Zen’ space, giving her a sense of calm. Her minimalistic work exudes the same sensation, helping to soothe the overactive modern mind.
By using her architectural skills, she composes her designs on a computer, first as line drawings and then building a three dimensional CAD model. She refines the design until she feels it is complete and creates cut patterns of all the different layers and components. Afterwards, she laser-cut it from wood, assemble the design (almost like a puzzle) and glue the layers together. It is finished with layers of textured paint and matt acrylic paint coating. The textures are unique and it gives each artwork a soul of its own. The clean and precise lines of the designs combined with the rough and imperfect tactile textures of the finish give her works a simplistic ‘wabi-sabi’ aesthetic.
