Suruchi Choksi a self-taught artist from Mumbai. She was born and raised in Kolkata. Confronted by the issues of space, limits, absence and elsewhere that life in these two cities precipitate, she responds to her environment through paintings, photography, sculptures and video installations.
Suruchi's work is a deeply researched, rigorous and experiential process of reflection that delves into human psychology and draws from mythology, history and our cultural zeitgeist. Our relationship with the world around us is a central theme in the art she makes and women and their role in society often forms the core of such enquiries.
