Artist Statement

I have always expressed my emotions through positive and joyful works, regardless of the medium. The discovery of collage while I was a student at The Beaux-Arts School made me want to go further in this field. I mainly use posters peeled off from the walls of the city of Lyon. They are a wonderful palette of colors and typographies, washed out by the sun or altered by successive layers of glue.
I cut, tear, decompose and recompose in resolutely urban and dynamic forms this material which, by nature, is ephemeral. I give it a second life.
The use of a layer of transparent and shiny resin finish on each piece glorifies these discarded raw materials and illuminates them. Each of my collages, as a tribute and to keep the memory of where it comes from, is named after a street or a district of Lyon.
I cannot say whether being a spatio-temporal synesthete has any influence on my work (a few additional synaptic connections between certain regions of my brain allow me to experience time as a spatial construction). The point is that typographies, spatio-temporal series of digits, words that read backwards, letters that "fly away" and follow their own logic, etc. are part of my inner workings: a nice mess in a way!
