I was watching an old Charlie Chaplin movie the other day and I thought Charlie would make a great Egg man.
Little Egg Tramp, you can look for the meaning behind the painting, yes it may come across at first as humorous, quirky, flippant or clever, yet there is a deeper meaning we all have something dark we want to hide and the fried egg is like a mask humans wear to obscure their feelings and emotions he is hiding something from his past he doesn't want to reveal.
You may like to know how my Egg collection came about, when I was a kid at school we would have to take our lunch box to school as there was no kitchen or cooking facilities, when the dinner bell would ring we would all sit on the floor to eat our lunch.
Almost every day I had a fried egg on rice,(we had lots of chickens) the other kids would say, ‘Ta, fried egg again you'll begin to start looking like a fried egg’.
One day I was frying an egg and thought that would make a great face…Now my Eggs are hanging on walls all over the world

Over the last few months, the world has indeed gone mad, and my heart goes out to all those who are affected and sadly lost their life because of Coronavirus.
My family and I have been in self-imposed lockdown for a while now only going out for food shopping, I buy all my oils and canvases online most of my oils coming from the UK, and I am well stocked on both and aim to keep on painting
I wanted a little humour in my work and had this in mind when I painted Going going gone and Steak and chips I think they highlight some of the madness we are experiencing at the moment.
I have been heartened that my works are still selling, In the last few weeks, I have sent my work to the UK, to the East & West coast of America, Germany, Singapore, Taiwan and a couple of places I've not had the shipping details yet. Only today I had a painting delivered to New York and received a messaged they love the work. I was watching a news clip last night about the deserted streets of NY and thought of my painting on the way there.
There are good teams still supporting me, my online galleries the courier services and the strong message from all that it's business (maybe not as usual) but as best we can, and I give thanks to them all. And my collectors where would we be without them?
Painting is my life, and if my work brings a little joy and happiness to people, then I can ask no more.
I hope you all stay safe and keep washing your hands.
