Artist Profile
Born: 1973
Hometown: Tokyo, Japan
Based in: Tokyo, Japan
Takaaki Yagi was born in 1973. Living in Tokyo.
Through a standard media called photography, he has created a piece of work from his own unique perspective, focusing on the sensitive space existing between the conscious will and the subliminal, as well as the conceptual production process.
Since the 1990s, has presented architectural installation works in solo and group exhibitions. Also, has been active as a designer in the space of interactive media and print. In 2007, won gold at the One Show Interactive and has received international awards.
Around 2010, has transitioned into a production style that uses photography. Developed a unique method, whereby actual photographic paper is handled to establish painting like abstract images.
Also, there is a series that continuously shoots exterior walls, as well as another series where scattered images are pieced together that allows the imagination to form a single story line.
