Artist Statement
The intersection, when the detail’s unveiled, is the delicious threat of being impaled.
A pointed pressure, sagittate stone, implies that threatening, a possible reckoning, yet it’s a delicate liaison.
The tension is an expression of fragility in aggression, they fit together - one carved out as if for the other - yet, if they met, that threat, would lead to regret, of a shattering, a scar, a wounded impression in stone.
Explosion. Piece torn from piece, into two, a separation, and driving the energy into the sculpture itself. Implosion.
A sculptural gesture of a complicated relationship, the intersection a complex affair.
The danger of destruction is a guilty thrill.
