Artist Statement
This is a dangerous game, of the sacred versus the profane.
The sculpture that should not be; silver travertine, the diva of stone, forced into bed with bronze, the brute.
Minerality I was an experiment of deadly potential; to force rock to rubble, the fired fierceness of the molten metal, inflicted upon the fragile, darling stone.
In the intersection, there's introspection, but disconnection; infinite tension between two opposites.
A debauched dialogue, a forever dance, sculptural trance, lustful stance, but these two will never so much as touch.
This is the rule of nature, the curse on the two.
The virgin rock remains just that. It retains its crystalline purity.
Attracted yet resisting. Framed but never the possessed. Forever together but just oh so, achingly, apart.
The bronze elevated by its association.
It is frozen in the moment. Frozen in a state of mind. Frozen in time.
This is yours and yours only. It never can be repeated. It can never be replicated. Because this reaction is unique.
