In order to curb or stop the spread of hate speech, you need to know the identity of love. What does love look like? How does it feel to be loving and accepting of differences? As a performance artist, I use my body as a kind of artistic material, sharing my emotions and concept with action, simultaneously interacting with the audience. In performance art, we confront. It is not acting or theater, it is our thoughts and feelings put into action. This series of photographs documents a performance wherein I cross-dress, cross-pollinate and cross-reference varied identities in Myanmar. I am from Rakhine state. I am Rakhine. But I am from Myanmar. Through performance, I can embody another’s identity with respect and dignity.
