Artist Statement

The vast sea rushes toward this little lizard,
Who has acclimated to overlooking from hundreds of meters in the air,
As natural as climbing a cactus in his hometown,
Without fear,
In the principle of hours.

He is unaware of the motherland he has never been,
Even a dune still preserves a plant for him;
Even a shrub somewhere is filled with the berries he loves;
Even his skin has faithfully inherited the textures of his ancestors'
adapting to the scorching sun.
But in the city thousands of kilometers away from his habitat,
This little bearded dragon has already known,
The real hometown is where he lives.
In the picture immersed in a damp sea breeze,
Passing ships and clouds are always waiting for him to lie by the window
and watch.
The distant hometown is no more real than this moment,
---- Since there is no way to meet, there is no word for missing.

Every surrounding has been defined by human,
He marks with his tail entirely different understandings:
Greeting the socket, ignoring the bonsai in the corner;
The curtain is the weather of dancing,
The painting box is the cradle of slumber.
Anywhere in the world his little claws have trodden on,
There's nothing he can't understand.
Except for glass, except for glass,
It is an unintelligible, confusing dream.
