Artist Statement
Satoshi's home town Mitaka. The city where the famous Giburi museum is located. Very green, you don't even think it is in the middle of Tokyo. He used to walk around the area alone. As he was always alone when he was child. There are many traditional houses around. But it seems that is company employee houses. No completely abandoned. Plant grows. He sat on the ground and start drawing the area. Before they are disappeared by nature.

Artist Profile
Hometown: Tokyo
Based in: London
Tou Toa is a young emerging artist, who currently works between Japan and UK. His art is centered on the creative interest for inner beauty and love in their forms and characterized by the combination of medium with social and environmental themes.
A timeless and ageless reality
Inspired by people, emotions, dreams, spirit and creativity, Tou Toa is looking for all things soulful to guide his artistic creation. After graduating from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, his career started gravitating around the creation of works with a strong realistic expression. Finding the truth and representing the world, the real and unreal, the physical and non-physical is, therefore, at the base of his artistic research. A timeless reality that the viewer is able to empathize with, through the involvement of our body, mind and spirit.
Going beyond the surface
Tou Toa does not believe in categories, which is why his works are always going beyond the mere dimensional space, exploring and creating a world people normally do not witness. Through different media, such as film, performance, music and fabric he interprets the philosophical concept he creates, by bringing the viewer outside of the traditional framework.
Multi-media success
In his career, Tou Toa has exhibited in several galleries and art fairs in UK and Japan. One of the most important experiences for the artist is the Asia Design Prize, for which he created a video art conveying the idea of human body, a code representing the human’s inner beauty.
