In this series, images are distorted and wrapped over a clear acrylic panel. The acrylic panel serves as a base and boundary for the images, alluding to the digital screen. The images on the front of the panel retain their original forms, presumably their accurate representation, but the back of the panel shows these very same images broken down and abstracted.
These artworks are meant to play with dimensionality, between spatiality and flatness. The ‘back’ of the panel implies depth beyond the frontal surface, the abstracted forms display lighting and shadowing, but are still relegated to flatness. Notions of foreground and background are also explored, with the clarity of the acrylic screen laying bare both sides.
In Rush Volume, the word Constant Invade suggests aggressiveness; the original
title belonging to the truck of a container service company of the same name. This brings
to the artwork connotations of circulation, globalization, transaction and consumerism, with the front subtitle alluding to a sense of flow. The title also reinforces these connotations with words; these signifiers become markers into reading the abstracted portions of the work.
