Artist Statement
Utai Nopsiri’s work is a direct expression of his belief in Buddhism and Zen teaching through the form of elegant and simplistic wooden sculptures. Although at first glance they look so effortless, Nopsiri’s works are a result of a painstaking process. From start to finish, there are no electrical tools involved. All works are done manually and traditionally. His works represent the serenity of a world in balance revealed in the contrast between texture, surface and material used.
