Artist Statement

“Painted right under the apple tree in my grandparents’ garden in Tolyatti, this piece is as emotional as it seems simple.” —Valeria Privalikhina

There is something both momentary and timeless, fragmentary and universal about this scene. Foliage moved by breeze caresses the crisp apples rendered in beautiful shades of pink and light pistachio. Unassuming yet virtuoso brushwork elevates the subject well above the mundane.

Light and air invade all Valeria's paintings immediately evoking the atmosphere of France and Italy where she made extended visits. Works of Joaquín Sorolla, Édouard Vuillard and the late work of Claude Monet played a part in Valeria's subtle palette and light yet dynamic brushwork.

This unique original work comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
Signed lower right: V.Privalikhina.
