Artist Statement

“In this painting, I wanted to paint the natural scene as holistically as possible using wider brushes and larger passages of colour.” —Valeria Privalikhina

Capturing the essence of a nonchalant summer day with a gloriously free brushwork and elegant colour contrasts, Valeria creates a harmonious yet visually stimulating composition. The surroundings of the park are rendered in dark olive, flamboyant lime, and muted viridian, showing the artist’s primary interest in the sensation of colour.

Light and air invade all Valeria's paintings immediately evoking the atmosphere of France and Italy where she made extended visits. Works of Joaquín Sorolla, Édouard Vuillard and the late work of Claude Monet played a part in Valeria's subtle palette and light yet dynamic brushwork.

This unique original work comes with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
