Title : Waterwheel
This is a work that belongs to the 'Circular series'.
The palette I've worked with for this piece gives it a fresh, light vibe. The new adaptations I've made for this piece are found on the sides and background.
The sides I have left free of paint. I wanted to allow the layers of birch veneer to be on display, they are so fine and crisp. This is also a way to allow the viewer into the workings of the piece more, really exposing the material for what it is.
The background of the piece, that is painted in a transient green, is thick acrylic paste that has set. Once set hard I hand gouged to create organic troughs running horizontally over the piece.
Made from birch plywood.
Painted in acrylic.
This piece measures:
Height: 37 inches (94cm)
Width: 39 1/2 inches (100cm)
Depth: 3/4 inch (2cm)
I have installed a recessed keyhole slot on the back. The piece is ready to hang with just one screw in a wall. The keyhole hanging method also allows the piece to hang flush and secure to the wall.
I have signed and dated the artwork on the back.
