The painting depicts the Pelagic Australis under the command of skipper Stewart Richardson and mate Jessica Hay after her annual refit and service.
The thrilling story of a modern yacht being lifted onto a slipway for further repairs at an industrial dock site. The speed and wind gave way to the skill and patience of the marina specialists. And at this time, large sailboats of the highest class are being produced nearby in the green workshop. The dock is full of equipment and rigging for craftsmen, engineers, designers and ship architects, so the work is in full swing. In front of us is a yacht several tens of feet in length. Even an incompletely repaired vessel makes an indelible impression with its swift forms. Installation of rigging, a mast (made of special heavy-duty carbon fibre plastic) and repair of a damaged keel are to be carried out. A new engine, diesel generator, and special devices are waiting to be installed.
They will not forget about modern navigation equipment and some other components. Sailing is the main purpose of such yachts. Pelagic Australis will be able to accommodate up to twelve team members, including a professional skipper and one or possibly two crew depending on the ability of the party. Pelagic Australis' principal features are an aluminium hull and deck structure specified to be able to withstand navigation in brash ice without deforming hull plates between frames. A fully ballasted lifting swing keel and swing rudder will allow her to navigate in unsurveyed shallows, gain protection from drift ice by being able to enter shallow waters and also be able to dry out with the tide in an upright position.
The modern seascape will look great in the kitchen, nursery, or bedroom and will surely delight you. I am sure that this picture will fit into any modern interior, be it an office or an apartment.
