Series "Fog Two"
Instant, personal and impermanent landscapes
How we perceive reality is a central theme in my work. In this series I have used fog to hide what is normally visible. This allows the viewer to imagine what the scenery should look like, creating instant, personal and impermanent landscapes.
Muted visual stimuli heighten our senses. The viewer is no longer the passive observer of a resolved picture but the creator of a moment in time, an imaginary scenery, which only exists once in the mind, which is impermanent and not reproducible. The question is always the same: “What do we see when we look?”
The series consists of thirteen black & white photographs, which were conceived in one day close to where I live.
Prints are produced in-house by myself on archival quality Awagami Kozo Thick White paper (110gsm; A3 — 29.7 x 42 cm) and ship in a box. They are unframed. The dimensions quoted are the size of the paper. There is a white margin around the actual image.
