Artist Statement
This work is one of the pieces in the Meditation Series in which I explore what it means to be in a meditative state while painting. During making of the work, I eliminated all the exterior elements such as music and sound, and visual distractions; instead, I wholehearted observed the ebbs and flows of my thoughts from within – without any judgment and analysis – in an attempt to truly embody the concept of being “in the moment.” The process of creating this work involved first gluing several layers of paper then peeling them in a horizontal movement once surface dried sufficiently.
