Where Passion and Pain Reside

This painting belongs to my current series called "Containment." The series is dedicated to the idea of what it means to contain and restrain. Although such idea may appear anachronistic In this age of over revealing, marketing and sharing, I long for the simplicity and quiet, and wanted to express such desire and evoke such emotional state throughout the series. As I perceive much chaos, rupture, and fast development around our surroundings and humanity, my goal as an artist has always been, and – more than ever these days – is to express and communicate a level of decorum and strength that comes from self-control, introspection and emotional containment through my paintings. In terms of process, heavy and several layers of black paper were first applied; once dried, the layers were peeled in curved lines.
