Artist Statement
"Where I have never been to #1" is an abstract oil landscape painting on primed plywood by Yulia Lenina, with shades of green lands and transparent blue sky - to buy at the Artling online art gallery.
The technique of execution combines spontaneity and control. I let the oil form "random" landscapes due to its fluidity, and I made the sky using a glazing technique to get a lot of shade transitions. This way, I play with contrasts, which are an important part of my artistic practice. The texture of the landscape elements is also contrasting - the Earth is deliberately convex due to the texture of the oil layer, and the sky is transparent and weightless.
Often viewers see something of their own in my works. Something they've seen before and the places where they've been. The title of this series is a micro-journey through the eyes of my viewers.
Sides are painted, ready to hang but can be framed if needed.
