Artist Statement

Zheng Mengqiang's creations are mostly based on personal growth stories, relying on and leading on various emotions he has experienced and precipitated, and searching for creative inspiration from memories and dreams. In terms of the composition form of the picture, he will refine some elements in film and photography technology (such as lens composition, character image modeling and light layout, etc.), and then use the structure, reorganization, symbolization and other methods of the image to present a moment of solidification with a sense of sculpture, and finally rebuild his ideals. The picture situation of. In the language technique of painting, he is used to using geometrically figurative shapes to filter and condense the images of life left during growth. The cold coast of his hometown, long roads, blue moonlights, pink reefs and hugging couples, migrating relatives, etc. have become repeated objects in his works. And the alienation and intimacy, sadness and pleasure, hardness and softness... These contradictions and impacts are the core of the ideas he really wants to express in his works.
