Artist Statement
"From Aschersleben to Pyongyang" is created with oil paint and oil sticks on canvas. Irregular shape of the edges in the center of the painting represet 4 horizon, or elements of the horizon from the town of ASCHERLEBEN, Germany. Content of the painting is about different place, in this case, place that could be taken from "Brave New World" or "1984", Pyongyang, real hell on earth. I wanted do do double landscape. I used two places existing right this moment, with very different events taking place.
