Art Jakarta Gardens 2022ByIsabella Damrongkul
Art Jakarta returns this year with Art Jakarta Gardens, a new, innovative, fresh, and open-space concept, held at Hutan Kota by Plataran from 7 to 14 April 2022. This year’s art fair is supported by Credit Suisse, Hutan Kota and Tumurun Museum. Mr. Mailana Indraguna Sutowo, CEO of MRA Group says “Art Jakarta Gardens is the realization of our current commitment to rebuilding the cooperative enthusiasm, which has always been the main driver of the art ecosystem in Indonesia. Hopefully, this event can signal the re-opening of the social space that was closed, through the appreciation and enjoyment of artworks.”

The fresh and innovative concept encapsulated in this event is achieved by the combination of presenting artworks both indoors and outdoors. The event allows intricacies of the sculptures presented to be enhanced in the open space. Enin Supriyanto, Artistic Director of Art Jakarta, explained that “an open space exhibition can accommodate more sculptures or other three-dimensional artworks. Usually, indoor exhibitions generally focus largely on paintings or ‘dwimatra’ works.”

The collaboration between Art Jakarta and Plataran Indonesia fully supported by Yozua Makes, the Founder and CEO of Plataran Indonesia: "Plataran embodies the spirit of collaboration, working alongside various parties towards the advancement of Indonesia in the fields of Nature-Culture-Community; this is part of Plataran’s DNA, as the True Indonesian Icon of Ecotourism. Art Jakarta is a prestigious arena through which masterpieces by various artists can be exhibited; formidable and legendary characters, whose work has been eagerly awaited by Jakarta’s art-loving community. Now, after a 2-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Art Jakarta is back with a new concept for the New Normal: with the exhibition at Hutan Kota by Plataran, Art Jakarta Gardens combines Indonesian creativity with one of the capital’s finest indoor/outdoor venues. As the world moves forward, we’re taking the next step in celebrating Indonesian arts and culture.”
