A bird's eye view of the ART021 Shanghai Contemporary Art Fair 2016.
"The Shanghai Exhibition Hall was built in 1955 to commemorate the alliance between China and the Soviet Union, a name by which many locals still refer to the building. Reflecting its original name, the design draws heavily on Russian and Empire style neoclassical architecture with Stalinist neoclassical innovations." - Wiki
Vincent de Sarthe of De Sarthe Gallery at their booth with an interactive piece by Chinese artist Wang Xin. "Featuring a giant hamster wheel for humans, artists acting as bar tenders, a barricaded entrance, and a virtual reality headset that transports users to an alternate reality, Wang Xin’s installations assert a commentary that is both comical and dystopian. The gleeful joy of participants excitedly waiting their turn to spin in the bright-pink hamster wheel clashes poignantly with the notion that monotony of spinning the wheel is a metaphor for the education needed to be a successful artist."
