In a perfect blend of showcasing art and inspiring design, Giles Miller Studio presents the latest architectural typology with the launch of Woven, Broadstairs. By the cliffside and beaches of Broadstairs, Kent is the newly finished residential property of 100 meters. The property merges the internal spaces and natural environment through a sculptural facade that brings nature to grow outdoors while still being within the vision inside.

Through artistic interventions in architecture, Giles Miller Studio aims to enrich people’s experiences of space. The UK-based studio explores the continual relationship of design between materials and light ranging from sculptural work to pavilions and architecture.

Giles comments on Woven, “The buildings we inhabit have a direct impact on our state of mind. Through their design they are curators of light, sound and human interaction, and they can expose us to nature and organic materials to dramatically positive effect. We believe that this aspiration, in synchrony with our latest surface and sculptural experimentation in the studio, has spawned a wholly unique architectural typology.”

In a perfect blend of showcasing art and inspiring designWoven’s exterior surface is a sculptural artwork that not only imparts architectural functionality to the building but also grows jasmine, clematis, and various other plants through the intricate latticework design. The home incorporates nature into the building’s interior, primarily through the glass exteriors. The facade blends the structure with its natural surroundings, bringing the beauty of the environment visually indoors for the inhabitant's enjoyment while also creating natural shading.

The mathematical elegance of twisted rattan weave first inspired the sculptural concept. To enhance the structure’s design, Giles introduced a 3-dimensional relief using recycled ABS modules produced from waste materials recovered during the UK-based production of electronic component housings. These sculptural modules not only increase visual permeability but also offer more surface area for climbing plants to weave through and decorate the building.

The kitchen features Miele, a brand renowned for their enduring designs and performance. Each appliance incorporates EcoPower technology, delivering functionality that is performance-focused. Vispring beds, which are exclusively featured in Woven, offer unparalleled comfort. Crafted from natural materials such as horsehair, pure cotton, and Shetland wool, it is complemented by luxury finishes like silk and cashmere, not only for their health benefits but also for environmentally friendly attributes.

In pursuit of timelessness, a primary consideration for both sustainability and emotive resonance, the studio turned to L.Ercolani, part of the ercol family. Their furniture shines with a minimal aesthetic that combines the comforting nostalgia of expertly crafted natural materials.
