On 28 April 2019, Art Chengdu returned for its second edition, showcasing 46 international blue-chip and top local galleries. Newly staged in Chengdu Century City New International Exhibition and Convention Center, 28 Galleries participated in the fair for its first time, hailing from Britain, Spain, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China, gradually showing the fair’s international positioning and diverse tastes.

Highlights of newcomers this year include a group exhibition from Arario Gallery (Shanghai, Seoul, Cheonan) presenting outstanding artworks of popular Japanese sculpture artist Kohei Nawa, a large-scale sculpture from Korean artist Kim Byoungho, works by Chinese artists Gao Lei and Chen Qiang, and emerging artists Zheng Huan and Liang Manqi. Whitestone Gallery (Tokyo, Taipei, Hong Kong) brought Japanese masterpieces of “GUTAI” including Tadaaki Kuwayama, a representative of New York Minimalism Movement, and Tsuyoshi Maekawa, whose works were broadly collected by museums such as Tate Modern (London), The National Museum of Art, Osaka (Japan) and Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo (Japan), also Yayoi Kusama and Yoshitomo Nara who are popular among collectors and audiences in China. Chambers Fine Art (Beijing, New York) showcased a group exhibition of Chinese contemporary artists Shi Chong, Yan Shanchun, Wu Jianan, Guo Hongwei, GAMA and Fu Xiaotong, continually promoting the excellent and advanced Chinese contemporary art; D Space (Chengdu) from Chengdu Blue Roof Art District presented renowned Chengdu artist He Duoling, the representative of “Scar Art” in China, as well as new works of Southwest artist Shi Jindian.

Art Chengdu's “PUBLIC PROJECTS” also brought together 3 large-scale installations in diverse mediums by Korean artist Kim Byoungho represented by Arario Gallery, Chinese artist Sui Jianguo represented by Pace Gallery and Zhou Li represented by White Cube Gallery.
