Hong Kong's recently launched MTR South Island Line will conveniently take visitors to their burgeoning art district for South Island Art Day, happening a second time this year! Just a stone's throw away from Admiralty station, 16 galleries and artist studios peppered across the area of Wong Chuk Hang and Tin Wan will open their doors to public free-of-charge on the 14th of October 2017 (Saturday), from 12pm - 8pm, as a part of Art Basel HK and Art Central VIP Programs.

Set up in 2013, South Island Cultural District (SICD) houses a range of top-notch contemporary art galleries, artist studios and non-commercial art spaces to offer the best of exhibitions involving both emerging and established local artists. Following highly successful South Island Art Nights and South Island Art Days over the past 3 years, SICD awaits over 5000 local and global art lovers to show up this month!

There will be exciting activities like exhibition openings, art performances, artist and curator talks, guided tours, and even a kid's corner featured at every turn to keep everyone busy and fulfilled throughout the day! Attendees will have an opportunity to interact with local and international artists, experience contemporary art, dance and music performances all while indulging in complimentary food and drinks provided by SICD's south side partners.

SICD frequently organizes joint openings, specific events and liase with art fairs and festivals to raise awareness about the creatively cultural neighbrhood. The ambition is to bring more shows and feature additional outlets such as photo and music studios, dance academies, yoga centers, private studios just to name a few, to keep it alive and growing!

To keep up with their (upcoming) adventures, head on to their website here to find out more information.
