Leading Swiss wealth management group, Julius Baer, has just announced the launch of 'The Julius Baer Next Generation Art Prize' for young Southeast Asian artists who create digital art – working with a medium of the future.
"By dedicating the Prize to the digital image, a medium that is already fast becoming the visual currency of everyday life in the twenty-first century, Julius Baer wishes to engage and empower the talent of the future.
The Prize underlines the importance of Julius Baer’s support of the arts and young talent, as well as a recognition of the current shifting frontiers in life and work.
The Prize is focused on awarding artists working with the digital image. There are two categories of submission: still images and moving images. We welcome applications that include the following media: digital painting and drawing, digital photography, digital print, digitally manipulated image, digital video, virtual or augmented reality artwork."
“With the Next Generation Art Prize attracting talent from Southeast Asia, we are excited to play a role in developing the region’s burgeoning art scene and promoting a culturally diverse, technologically-oriented arts community. The focus on digital technology is a reflection of its increasing value as a conduit of business and leisure as the world shifts with the advent of the current pandemic”, said Jason Moo, Head Private Banking Southeast Asia, and Branch Manager, Julius Baer Singapore.
