Household by Poklong Anading is an ongoing exhibition at 1335mabini in the Philippines that is on view till November 25, 2017. As an artist, Anading's creative practice is often defined by his unique stance on social structure and occurences, based on the notion of deductive research where collecting as an act is a method of extraction. With his work spanning the media of video, installation, photography, drawing and painting - Anading takes on a experimental approach to art.

With the artist's As above so below series of works, Anading uses barely noticable and mundane materials to emphasise his obsession with the process of art. The shaped canvas and the expression of colour and texture on the surface where Anading's painting tool is glued onto the paint itself - points to his continuing fascination with how discarded artifacts and insignificant rags can be used. The value and worth of these small items thus change multifold, playing an important role in a much bigger picture.

Dust also plays a key role in Anading's artistic pratice with the rags and thick textured paint creating alcoves where dust could settle. Moreover, the artist's dust gathering obsession is further enforced for the duration of the exhibition with an industrial-strength fan placed to suck the air inside the gallery through the canvas of the paintings!

An intriguing artist, Poklong Anading's solo exhibition at 1335mabini is one not to be missed!
