The Young Artist Award by REDBASE Foundation, Yogyakarta, is a newly-initiated visual art competition by Nancy Nan, the Founder of REDBASE, to promote and support young local artists by offering them financial and career support. The Foundation itself is an extension of REDBASE Art Management in Jakarta, which collaborates with village communities to promote creativity through visual arts education, cultural exchanges and the internationalisation of local artists.

This year, the Young Artist Award 2016 received a total of 250 submissions. The perks of being one of the 5 winners of the competition includes not only prize money but also support in the form of participation in exhibitions, international art fairs in the region and art residencies.

Dedicated to the 20 finalists of the Young Artist Award, the Young Artist Award Exhibition will showcase the shortlisted works at two main venues.
